Affiliate Disclosure
Transparency matters. This page explains exactly how PetFriendlyHub earns money, which affiliate programs we participate in, and how our commercial relationships do — and do not — affect the information we provide.
We Participate in Affiliate Programs
PetFriendlyHub is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and its affiliated sites. We may also participate in other affiliate programs, including those operated by Chewy, Petco, and other pet supply retailers.
As part of these programs, some of the links on PetFriendlyHub are affiliate links. This means that if you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you. The commission rate varies by program and product category.
How Commissions Are Identified
All affiliate links on PetFriendlyHub are marked with the HTML attribute rel="nofollow sponsored". This tells search engines that the link is part of a commercial relationship and should not influence our search rankings through that relationship. It also helps you, the visitor, identify when clicking a link may result in a commission being paid to us if you make a purchase.
Our Recommendations Are Not Influenced by Commissions
We do not let commercial relationships affect which products we feature, how we rank them, or what we say about them. Specifically:
- Inclusion is based on relevance, not commissions. We list products because they are popular, well-reviewed, or relevant to our audience's needs, not because they pay higher commissions. Many products we list do not participate in affiliate programs at all.
- Rankings follow objective match criteria. On our product listing pages and tool results, products that satisfy hard compatibility requirements (for example, a carrier whose dimensions fit within an airline's size limits) are always presented before products that do not meet those requirements. Commission rates are not a factor in sorting or ranking.
- We do not accept payment for placement. Manufacturers and retailers cannot pay us to feature, rank, or recommend their products. We do not sell "sponsored slots" or preferential positioning.
How We Handle Product Recommendations in Content
Our guides and tools may reference specific products. When they do:
- Products are assessed against the criteria relevant to the guide's topic (for example, an airline's under-seat dimensions for a carrier guide).
- The assessment is based on manufacturer specifications, official certification data, and aggregated user feedback — never on affiliate potential.
- Any affiliate relationship is disclosed on the same page where the link appears, not buried in a site-wide footer.
Hard Match Conditions Always Take Priority
Many of our tools and pages involve hard constraints: an airline only accepts carriers up to a certain size, a hotel only allows dogs under a certain weight, or a product must fit within specific dimensions. When our systems evaluate whether a product or service is suitable for a given need, these hard constraints are evaluated first and non-negotiable. A product that does not meet a hard constraint will either be excluded or clearly flagged as not meeting requirements, even if it carries a higher affiliate commission than a product that does meet the constraints.
What This Means for You
When you see a product link or recommendation on PetFriendlyHub, you can trust that:
- It was included because it's relevant to the topic at hand.
- Its position in any list or result set was determined by how well it matches objective criteria, not by commission rates.
- If it's an affiliate link, that fact is disclosed on the page.
- You pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer. In some cases, you may even get a better price through a deal we've surfaced.
