Editorial Policy

This policy describes how we create, maintain, and update the content published on PetFriendlyHub. Our goal is to provide information that is accurate, transparent, and genuinely useful to pet owners.

Content Creation Standards

All factual content on PetFriendlyHub is based on official sources. We do not use AI language models to generate the factual data points, policy descriptions, product specifications, or fee tables that appear on our site.

Our policy pages, product profiles, and data entries are created through a process that includes:

  1. Source collection. We locate the official policy page, fee schedule, dimension guide, or specification sheet published by the airline, hotel group, or manufacturer.
  2. Data extraction. A human researcher extracts the relevant data points (size limits, weight cutoffs, fee ranges, breed notes, and so on) from the official source.
  3. Structured entry. The data is entered into our structured format with the source URL and the verification date recorded.
  4. Peer review. For high-impact pages such as airline policy overviews and tool logic, a second team member reviews the entry against the source before publication.

Source Hierarchy

We use a defined hierarchy when evaluating sources. Information from official pages takes precedence over secondary sources, and factual data is always clearly separated from user-reported feedback trends:

  • Official pages (airline websites, hotel brand sites, manufacturer documentation) are treated as authoritative for policy details, specifications, and fees.
  • Affiliate feeds (product data from Amazon, Chewy, or other retailers) provide product dimensions, images, and pricing. These are cross-referenced with manufacturer specs when available.
  • Third-party aggregators and industry databases are used only as pointers to original sources, never as authoritative references.
  • Customer feedback and reviews are aggregated into thematic summaries and clearly labeled as "User Feedback Trends," distinct from verified policy facts.

When sources conflict, we note the discrepancy and default to the most recently dated official source. If no official resolution is available, we present both claims and note the ambiguity.

Verification Schedule

Pet policies and product specifications change. We maintain a verification schedule to keep our information current:

  • Weekly: Airline pet policies (major carriers) are checked against official websites for any changes to fees, size limits, or breed restrictions.
  • Bi-weekly: Hotel group policies are reviewed for updates to pet fees, weight limits, or property-level changes.
  • Monthly: Product specifications, dimensions, and pricing are refreshed from affiliate feeds and manufacturer sites.
  • As needed: When a user reports a policy change or error through our correction process, we verify and update within 3 business days.

Each page that contains time-sensitive data displays a "Last verified" date indicating when we last confirmed the information against its official source.

Correction Process

We take errors seriously. If you find incorrect information on PetFriendlyHub, please contact us with the specific page, the data point in question, and a link to the correct official source if available.

When we receive a correction request, our process is:

  1. Acknowledge receipt within 1 business day.
  2. Verify the claim against the official source and any additional sources the user provides.
  3. If the error is confirmed, update the page within 3 business days and add a note indicating a correction was made.
  4. If the claim cannot be verified or the official source matches our current entry, we respond with our findings and the source we reviewed.

Independence From Advertisers and Affiliates

Our content is created and maintained independently of our commercial relationships. We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or "guest posts" that promote specific products or services. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over our policy data, product rankings, editorial content, or correction decisions.

Product pages that include affiliate links use a match-score sorting system: products that meet all of a user's hard requirements (such as carrier dimensions fitting under a specific airline seat) are displayed before those that do not. This logic is based on objective measurements, not commercial considerations.
